President Maduro Condemns Opposition of Leading Criminal Organizations and Promoting Violence in Venezuela

The president also mentioned other opposition figures linked to this criminal organization, including Carlos Vecchio, Juan Guaidó, and David Smonlansky, whom he described as “pure gems from the imperialist jewelry box.” Additionally, he stressed that the FBI is aware of his claims.

Venezuelan President Nicolás Maduro claimed on December 18 that he has evidence linking opposition leader Leopoldo López to the criminal organization known as “El Tren de Aragua.”

During a meeting with peace judges in the country, Maduro stated that López, currently a fugitive from Venezuelan justice, was directing this organization from the United States through his contact, Gilber Caro.

“The evidence is there. Leopoldo López, through Gilber Caro, was directing El Tren de Aragua from the United States and into Venezuela. They intended to use El Tren de Aragua for post-electoral violence,” President Maduro declared, emphasizing that the opposition’s only plan is violence and fascism.

President Maduro highlighted that the entry of criminals into the United States was led by López, along with other opposition leaders such as Julio Borges and María Corina Machado.
